Get the edge in preparing for the computer-based CSET!  The CSET preparation workshop will cover a five-point learning advantage developed by the authors of CliffsTest Prep CSET®. (1) expert instruction—benefit from in-class instruction with credentialed teachers and specialists in the field of test preparation; (2) assessment—learn to identify your strengths and target your weaknesses; (3) review—receive instruction about the domain areas, question types, test-taking strategies, and scoring; (4) class materials—receive a comprehensive textbook with three full-length practice tests; and (5) free-repeat policy—repeat the prep class as often as necessary for extra subject-area review.

Strategies and techniques for answering the multiple-choice and constructed-response questions will be discussed and selected areas will be reviewed. This workshop is designed to help students apply their knowledge to meet exam requirements in each of the exam subtests, but is not a substitute for formal academic course work. CSET test areas include: Subtest I – History/Social Science and Reading, Language & Literature; Subtest II – Science and Math; Subtest III – Visual and Performing Arts, Physical Education and Human Development. The book included in the course is written by the faculty of BTPS Testing, CliffsTestPrep CSET® with CD/ROM (2012)including three full-length practice tests for enhanced home study.

Aligned with California Subject Matter Requirements

The CSET: Multiple Subjects computer-based exam is designed to evaluate subject-matter competence and Common Core Standards. Your success on the CSET: Multiple Subjects exam depends upon your measured knowledge and skill in the subject matter taught in California classrooms. The exam is based upon the California classroom framework, curriculum and instructional materials. This test is a broad-range exam that includes these sections: Reading, Language, and Literature; History and Social Science; Science and Mathematics; and Physical Education, Human Development and Visual and Performing Arts.

The test consists of 143 multiple-choice questions and 11 short constructed-response questions. There are three subtests:

  • Subtest I – Reading, Language, and Literature (26 mc questions and 2 SCR questions); History and Social Science (26 mc questions and 2 SCR questions)
  • Subtest II – Science (26 mc questions and 2 SCR questions); Math (26 mc questions and SCR questions)
  • Subtest III – Physical Education (13 mc questions and 1 SCR question); Human Development (13 mc questions and 1 SCR question); Visual and Performing Arts (13 mc questions and 1 SCR question)

Scores range from 100-300 for each subtest. In each subtest, the multiple-choice section is worth 70% and the short constructed-response section is worth 30%. To pass each subtest, you need about 65-70% correct on the multiple-choice questions and an average score of about “2” on each short constructed- response question. There is no penalty for guessing, so never leave an answer blank. Always attempt a response on the short constructed-response questions since you may get at least partial credit for attempting an answer. A calculator is provided on your computer screen during the test. You may register for 1, 2 or all 3 subtests.

The book included in the course fee is the CliffsTestPrep CSET-Multiple Subjects Preparation Guide (2012) written by instructors of BTPS Testing.

 Information & Registration

The deadline to enroll for courses for most certificate programs is FOUR (4) BUSINESS DAYS or earlier before the class begins; course schedules are updated daily. If a course in which you are interested is no longer displaying in the course schedule, please be aware that its registration deadline may have already passed, or the course may have already reached capacity. Review the schedule for alternate dates, or sign up for Program Updates to be notified of upcoming classes.

New Students

  • If you are a new to CSUDH and have never taken a course through CSUDH Continuing Education, simply select the course you want to take, click on the Cart icon to register, input your personal information, and pay for your class(es).

Current Students

  • If you are an existing CSUDH Continuing Education student who has been active in the past 6 months, you will use your regular CSUDH login information.
  • If you are an existing CSUDH Continuing Education student who has been active within the past 2 years, but who has not been active in the past 6 months, you will need to reset your password by visiting http://messianicfamilyfellowship.com/password. 

All Other CCPE Students

  • If you are a past CSUDH Continuing Education student who has NOT been active within the past 2 years, please register for your first (returning) course as though you are new student. 
  • If you are an existing CSUDH Continuing Education student who has forgotten your username, student ID number, and/or Toromail address, please call the CCPE Registration Office at 310-243-3741 (Option 1) during Office Hours to retrieve this information.

Current Admitted CSUDH (Non-Continuing Ed) Students

  • ⚠ If you are a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate CSUDH student who wishes to take a CSUDH Continuing Education course for the first time, please call the CCPE Registration Office at 310-243-3741 (Option 1) during Office Hours to get registered. (Please note that CCPE courses cannot be registered through MyCSUDH.)

 

When you're ready to register, select the " Add" button to the left of your desired course(s), and then select the " Cart" to begin the Checkout process.

If the course you want to register for has a prerequisite, after selecting "Checkout & Pay", you must Log In using your CSUDH campus credentials so that the system can verify that you have completed the required prerequisite course.
